He cheered the Boston marathon bombing and discussed using the weapons locally. The case was initially investigated as a terrorism case based on initial evidence, with the FBI stating that it "believes that a terror attack was disrupted by law enforcement personnel and that the lives of several local residents were potentially saved." Ultimately however, Rogers was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and sentenced to three years and four months in prison.
